The Firebird Bandit II
This is #70 of 500 Bandit II's
built in 1989
The Bandit II was an aftermarket appearance package offered by local dealers in the Tri-State are through a company called Choo Cho Customs (AKA "The Custom Center") in Tennessee. The option was mostly performed on regular base model 305 TBI Firebirds from 1987 on thru 1992. The appearance package consisted of a Shaker style hood scoop like the first Bandit Trans Am's, "Bandit II" decals on the side ground effects and on the rear bumper, and a plac on the dash board of the car denoting which number car it was of the Bandit II's built that year. They also had customized interiors with things like wood paneling and a polished aluminum instrument panel cover. They also had special wheels.
I have not been able to contact Choo Cho customs myself so I am basing
the production numbers on information that I have gotten from various owners
of them who have told me what the production number on their cars plac
is. Now I seriously doubt that they were actually able to produce all the
cars each year that the plac indicates but I won't be sure of that until
I can speak with somebody who knows for sure.
The production numbers break down like this from what I've found:
1987: Unknown,
most likely 500
1988: 500
1989: 500
1990: 600
1991: 600
1992: Unknown,
most likely 600
